The Amazing Roosterfish

The Roosters are difficult to hook, they are picky eaters and don't often go for artificial lures.  The manner in how they approach an intended meal is uncanny, almost 'Cat and Mouse'.  Rarely does a Roosterfish hit the bait and run.  They nudge it, actually seem to play with it for awhile much the same as a cat would with his prey.  It may be several hits before you are actually able to hook these fish.  When you do, it is a fight of a lifetime.  And don't think that a Rooster is finished when you get him to the boat, one look at you and he is usually off like lightening taking another 100 meters of line and the fight begins again.

Unlike their relatives, the Jack Crevalle who fight like Bulls, Rooster fish when hooked behave in a more spectacular fashion, rising from the depths, shooting their crest along the surface and often making an impressive leap similar to a Large Mouth Bass.  A sight to be seen.  These characteristics make the Roosters the most sought after winter/spring game fish in our waters.
