Larry on the ESPERANZA

Larry Novak with one of his Jack Crevalle.

All of the boats were busy in April, this was a great month for tourism and among these visitors are a lot of fishing enthusiasts.  Larry Novak was one of the first and he chose the ESPERANZA for a day on the ocean.  The ESPERANZA is one of the small boats in our fleet but despite her 26 feet, she has twin 115 HP Yamaha engines and gets to the blue water ahead of the yachts.  Larry sent us a note to say that he probably spent his greatest day of fishing ever with Captain Kurt and his mate Ramon. They landed 3 Jack Crevalle, 3 nice Red Snapper, had 3 Sailfish strikes but failed to hook up.  Larry commented that these fish, the sails seemed smarter than our regular finned creatures.  They saw action all day, missed a Dorado and Rooster but spotted 4 Humpbacks, Sea Turtles and an unbelievable amount of sea life.  The Jack in the photo put up a formidable fight.  These fish are locally called Toros, meaning Bull and this is a good description of how they behave with a hook in their mouth.
